Section 3.2 All Packages - Broken Download Links

Reported by: Andrew Bradford Owned by: clfs-commits@…
Priority: major Milestone: CLFS Embedded 1.0.0
Component: BOOK Version: CLFS Embedded GIT
Keywords: Cc:

Description

The link for CLFS-Bootscripts is broken, no bootscripts exist at http://cross-lfs.org/files/packages/embedded-0.0.1/ Bootscripts are available in git but I'm not sure if they're the right ones.

e2fsprogs link is broken, should be: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/e2fsprogs/e2fsprogs-1.41.4.tar.gz

IANA/etc link is broken, the address sethwklein.net gives a 404 to me, there's a copy of the right version at: http://cross-lfs.org/files/packages/embedded-0.0.1/iana-etc-2.30.tar.bz2 I couldn't find this version for download with a quick Google search other than at the cross-lfs.org address.

Zlib link is broken, version 1.2.3 doesn't seem to exist for easy download from zlib.net anymore. Version 1.2.5 can be found at: http://zlib.net/zlib-1.2.5.tar.bz2 Version 1.2.3 can be gotten from sourceforge at: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/libpng/zlib-1.2.3.tar.gz

Fixed all but the bootscripts link in my local copy. Created a patch, attached.

Attaching files seems broken, my patch can be found at: https://gist.github.com/743380 There's probably a better way to send this...

It seems like the sourceforge links I said were broken may actually work sometimes, which is really strange (or I'm missing something).

When clicking the link for e2fsprogs from the book found online (git-20110110 version) at: http://cross-lfs.org/view/clfs-embedded/arm/materials/packages.html it works and I can download the e2fsprogs package. But if I copy-paste the link into another browser window, I get a 404 error message.

The corrected links above work with both clicking (in my git repo version) or copy-pasting into a new browser window.

Instead of prdownlaods.sourceforge.net, I changed this to downloads.sourceforge.net. These are the same URLs that are being used in the main book now.

I just updated the download locations. They appear to all work fine on my system via firefox, links, or wget. Please reopen this ticket if you still have an issue.
