[173da18]13  <para>This chapter shows how to complete the build of temporary tools to
14  create a minimal system that will be used to boot the target machine and to
15  build the final system packages.</para>

[173da18]18  installed to allow you to boot the minimal system. Some of these
[fb40919]19  packages will be installed onto the root or in /usr on the CLFS
[07114c98]20  partition ($CLFS/bin, $CLFS/usr/lib, etc...), rather than /tools, using the
[173da18]21  "DESTDIR" option with make. This will require the
22  <systemitem class="username">lfs</systemitem> user to have write access to
[07114c98]23  the rest of the $CLFS partition, so you will need to temporarily change the
24  ownership of $CLFS to the <systemitem class="username">lfs</systemitem> user.
